why superpowers are overrated.

The other day I was asked what superpower I would have if I could pick any one for myself.

I answered time travel or invisibility. That way I could stand in on some really cool historical moments... but afterwards I realized that by talking about standing in a room when no one knew I was there and just watching made me sound like a certified creeper.

So I gave it some more thought. I'm constantly reading into things, so wouldn't it be nice to read minds, so that I could just figure out if I should actually worry about what someone thinks about me or says to me? Also a little unsettling to just be tapping into someone's thoughts... Hello! Can you say government wire taps?

Night vision? Same deal.

X-ray vision? Gross.

Then, I got to thinking... that this whole superpower thing is a little overrated.

There's having Incredible superhuman strength, which is cool I guess, but what girl wants to look like this?

And flying would be cool for the first little bit... but what if all the excitement wears off like it does after you've had your driver's license for a bit. Plus, who wants to alert air traffic control before you head off to the grocery store? And, bonus! Instead of a windshield, the bugs just get to hit your teeth. Blech!

My conclusion? The superpower to be a super productive person, and absorb lots of information quickly would have been a way better answer to that question.
