top (6) covers of the week.

When done right… covers make you notice a song again. And they remind you just how good the song is. Just be warned, I'm a sucker for anything acoustic, so don't act surprised by what you hear. So in no particular order, here you are:

Let’s Stay Together
Original: Al Green (1972)
Covered by: Maroon 5 (2012)
Lame lyrics video...

Tiny Dancer
Original: Elton John (1971)
Covered by: Caroline Glaser (2013)

Free Fallin’
Original: Tom Petty (1989)
Covered by: John Mayer (2007)
Another... lame lyrics video

Make You Feel My Love
Original: Billy Joel (1997)... except for Bob Dylan wrote this song, and then came up with his own version after Billy Joel? What?
Covered by: Adele (2008)

Holding Out for a Hero
Original: Bonnie Tyler (1984)
Covered by: Ella Mae Bowen (2011)
Both for Footloose.....

Danny’s Song
Original: Loggins and Messina (1971)
Covered by: The Swon Brothers (2013)
(this is the first song that I feel they've pulled off on The Voice without being wildly off key half the time, and I actually really loved it.)

In other news: last week my friend asked me who I would want to see in concert if I could see anyone dead or alive. My first reaction? James Taylor. And I'm not even kidding....

Well, guess who is performing with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir in September? SERIOUSLY!!! If it's the last thing I do, I'm getting tickets! :)

is this real life?
