What a long day!!!!
A time machine. That’s seriously the only way I can describe
the way that these planes are making me feel. I get into one plane, it’s day. I
get into another plane, and we ride the sunset until it’s morning again. All
until you end up in Amsterdam and you’re not feeling guten or morgen.
SLC to DTW: After saying goodbye to my family, Amy and I ran
to McDonald’s for a quick breakfast… because nothing says goodbye to the United
States like some Mickey D’s. On the flight we watched New Year’s Eve, and sat
next to a very kind Indian man from Philadelphia, who showed us pictures of his
family. Good people everywhere. :) The pilot also announced that the smoke being smelt in the cabin was just from
fires below—eek! Somehow, this felt like the longest flight- EVER.
Detroit Airport:
Detroit Airport: Ate an $11 sandwich that tasted like a $7
sandwich and some soup that could have been warmed up cheez whiz for all I
know. Called my family, twice, because it was my longest layover. Boss thought
that I was in the airplane and kept screaming and pointing up at the sky while
he was on the phone with me. (I can imagine that he was a bit worried that my
parents dropped me off with my things, drove away, and didn’t seem to have
plans to come get me later. Saw a bird flying around the terminal… oh, and
there’s a train in the airport… nbd.
DTW to AMS: Best flight! Way easier than the first one!
Watched “Oz the Great an Powerful.” Quit when I decided that it was a solid B-.
Looked outside the window a million times. The ocean is huge, and the Canadian
coast is beautiful. We also kind of escaped the nighttime. It was cool, because you could see the moon from one side of
the plane, but there was always a sunset out the windows on the other side. It
only got dark for just a little bit. (I’m tellin’ you- time travel! It’s messing
with my internal clock in a big way!) Watched “A Beautiful Mind” for the first
time for the first time (A+). Excellent movie!
