public transportation.

Today I took the train to meet my fiancé. I was flooded with so many memories of taking the metro in D.C., riding the bus to campus, a train ride followed by taxi with my dear friend Adwoa, and seeing the English countryside for the first time as we rode the tube into London.

I'm not sure what I love so much about public transportation. Maybe it's the views (when they're above ground), or the chance to read whatever book or paper I choose, or watching all of the people get on and get off, and wondering where the train is taking them, but more importantly where life is taking them.

Then there's the automated reminders, and advertisements, and the conductors. Some sound bored, others like they are voicing a movie trailer, and one that sounded like Barack Obama was driving the metro himself.

Looking back, those little trips have added up to conversations with strangers, silent tears, and even silent prayers that I'd get off on the right spot, or do my job the right way, or have the courage to open my mouth.

Individually, these trips have been pretty insignificant, but together they represent very important learning experiences in my life, and moments that I have realized that that there are so many children of God all trying to make their way in this world, and challenging me that there's never just one way to do that or to come unto Him.
