My camera got stolen in London....
Somewhere between Hyde Park and Selfridge's.
Hence the lack of photos from London.
Looks like I should have done what this guy did (minus the bathtub photo).
Suffice it to say, I. Love. London. I can't wait to get back, and definitely wouldn't complain if I got the chance to travel there for an extended amount of time.
During my trip I:
Day 1- saw the crown jewels at the Tower of London, took a ride on the London Eye, took an awesome photo with my friend Amy (green jacket + green screen= floating head and a lot of confused photo developers :), ate my first Cadbury Dairy Milk ice cream bar (here's praying that it won't be my last!!!)
Day 2- Spent the morning in the lovely Westminister Abbey (this was a huge highlight of the trip for me) and spent the afternoon at Buckingham Palace. We had hot chocolate and scones in the afternoon. I had a scone with clotted cream and strawberries. The strawberries? Fabulous. The clotted cream? Not so amazing. Finished the day watching the football match between England and Scotland on the telly with the McConnell's.
Day 3- rode bikes through Hyde Park (another one of my very favorites), visited the Victoria and Albert Museum, found the Hyde Park Chapel and Visitor's Center, visited with the sister missionaries, and visited Selfridge's (and discovered Cath Kidston), evensong at St. Paul's Cathedral, and then a night out to Covent Gardens and Leicester Square with our new friend Beth.
Day 4- A quick visit to Platform 9 3/4 at Kings Cross Station, a visit to the outskirts of London to the home where my great grandfather left his family to come to America with the missionaries. This was a wonderful experience, and gave me a new appreciation for the sacrifice that my great grandfather made when he was only 14 years old. This decision has blessed so many generations since. We finished the night at Les Miserables in the West End (again, this was in the top 5 for me), it was absolutely wonderful, and I won't bore you with the details, but if you want me to gush about that show... all you really have to do is ask. :)
The next morning it was off to the airport, and it was back to the United States. Grateful for a whirlwind of a summer, and now here I am, back! So ready and excited to start school, make some new friends, and so thrilled to start my new job. Looking forward to all of the adventures that this next year holds!
