Case in point: I'm not much of a runner. I think I wish I was, so that's why I keep trying to do small races. My cousin's wife invited me to do a small 2 mile Turkey Chase with her and her girls on Thanksgiving morning, and I was excited to join! Because I knew that running is not my strong suit, my clicker got to come along. It was fun to have the girls click along with me. At one point, Ella said, "I'M JUST THANKFUL WE'RE GETTING THIS OVER WITH!" (That one probably deserved two clicks), but in all reality, it gave me an awesome way to peer into the brains of the people I love the most and hear all of the reasons that they are thankful too.
I find myself...
...at the grocery store thankful for my silly little shopper's cards that save me $2 on my grocery bill.
...thankful for running out of time to shave my legs, because it means that my legs are a little warmer that day.
...thankful for a shrinking bank account, because that means that even though this amazing semester is drawing to a close, I get to see my family soon!!
You get the point.
Life is so much happier when we dwell on our positive thoughts, and way more fun! Your thoughts are a powerful thing, and nobody can tell you otherwise! Elder Jeffrey R. Holland once quoted F. Scott Fitzgerald as saying, "Trouble has no necessary connection with discouragement." Elder Holland goes on to say, "Discouragement has a germ of its own." And in one of my favorite quotes from Tolstoy, "If you want to be happy, be."
So, I dare you, no... in the spirit of Christmas, I DOUBLE-DOG DARE YOU to play this game with yourself for the next few weeks. With finals, moves, and the Christmas season approaching, give yourself a break, and allow yourself to laugh. I promise that your eyes will only be twinklier and your cheeks can only become rosier by doing this. Merry Christmas and Happy Clicking! :)
Meg, I just found your blog and I love it! You are so awesome, girl! Thanks for your uplifting thoughts. Love you!
